Snow, fabulous snow!

Sat, 31 Jul 2010 14:49:32 +1200

Snow conditions are great at the moment. It's club weekend this weekend, so the lodge is humming. There's still a few beds available though, so come on up if you're keen! There's a front due through tonight, which will hopefully bring some fresh snow, but don't let that put you off! See you soon!

Catering starts this weekend

Wed, 30 Jun 2010 00:20:00 +1200

Snow conditions are perfect. Clear, sunny days have made for some great skiing on all trails. Catering starts this weekend. Give Pete a call at the lodge or email info@osc.org.nz if you're planning on going up as space may be at a premium, but everyone is more than welcome! Ski Week One (4th-10th July) is full, but there may still be some room on Ski Week Two (11th-17th of July). Please contact skiweeks@osc.org.nz for more information. See you up at the lodge!

Opening day!

Spring Skiing

Tue, 15 Sep 2009 20:45:00 +1200

Hi everyone,

Well a mixed bag of weather...wind, rain, high temps, then cooler temperatures has left the snow I guess you could say...very Spring like. Good in the morning then getting a bit slushy later. But it has changed so much in the past week or so it is very hard to predict what it may be like this weekend and beyond. There is still heaps of snow a testiment to the amazing snow making system we have here.

The Lodge has been busy right up until tonight so it is quite strange just Laurie and myself being here!! From now on there will be self catering but if you are intending to come up please let me know.

Cheers, Pete

Wild weather

Wed, 02 Sep 2009 06:45:00 +1200

Hi all,

Crazy weather....It is all over the place. Very windy yesterdy and at one point when Laurie was looking at the weather station it jumped from 34km/h to 99km/h. Overnight snow but it must very wind blown. Who knows!!

Not too many weeks left so make some plans for some Spring skiing and riding.

Pete

Busy, busy, busy

Wed, 26 Aug 2009 07:02:00 +1200

Hi All,

Well as you can imagine it has been really warm here and we have had quite a bit of rain. The conditions change day by day but there is plenty of snow and when the temperatures drops it will be back to normal.

We are full this weekend but if you wish to come up there are beds at Vincent Ski Club. This will probably be the last of the busy weekends but please call early. It is still August and the weather is unusually warm so there is still plenty of the season left.

Cheers, Pete

New snow

Mon, 10 Aug 2009 19:44:00 +1200

Hi Everyone,

Nothing new to report except that after more nights of snow showers late last week the conditions seem to get better and better. The weather has been a bit crazy and the past few nights have been around plus 2 and 3 degrees. However snow is great over the entire mountain and the road is in great condition.

We have a school group staying Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights otherwise the weekend is going to be quite quiet. Call before Wednesday night if you intend coming up please.

Cheers, Pete

School holidays are over...

Mon, 20 Jul 2009 18:51:00 +1200

Hi Everyone,

Conditions continue to amaze. We have had very little snow since the season started, but with cold clear days and cold nights ideal for snow-making we have excellent conditions over all the mountain. School holidays are over so the numbers on the hill should be down quite a bit.

We have school groups staying at the Lodge off and on over the next few weeks but there will always be room for members. As we are catering please let me know your intentions before Wednesday night so food can be ordered and collected.

Club Weekend is coming up. As it is a special weekend, please let me know if you are coming up for the weekend. Last year's Club Weekend was a ripper. Let's make this one a great one too!

Cheers, Pete

Record snow conditions!

Mon, 29 Jun 2009 21:49:00 +1200

Hi Everyone,

Snow conditions are as good as you can get them on all groomed runs and just a little hard off piste. I don't remember the trails in such good condition with awesome grooming on cold dry silky snow.

Catering this weekend. Please call or email by Wednesday night if you are coming up for this weekend. Plenty of room this weekend and a few spare beds early next week. We are full from the middle of next week but there are plenty of beds for Saturday night - the 11th July. If you wished to stay on the mountain on Friday night the 10th there will be room at Vincent Lodge. From Sunday the 12th (second week of school holidays) there is plenty of room and the week will be catered. Please let me know if you would like to come and stay during that period.

If you watch TV3 news over the next few days keep an eye out for our young ski racer member Laurie Taylor. Laurie has been interviewed by the media as part of Winter Festival Week and we hope the cameras zoomed in on his OSC beannie which he wears continually when not racing.

Cheers, Pete

Let the catering begin!

Tue, 23 Jun 2009 20:22:00 +1200

Hi All,

Excellent conditions after a great week plus of snow-making with the amazing Alpina snow guns. Beautiful weather and not too many people.

Catering starts this weekend so please let me know if you are coming up by Wednesday night. Catering is included during Ski Weeks!

Ski Week One is pretty full so if you have any intention of coming up let me know. There may be a few beds free at the start of the week. Week Two has plenty of room but please let me know your intentions as early as possible as we cater for that week also.

Have a cozy weekend and book a family room!

Cheers,
Pete
