Well a mixed bag of weather...wind, rain, high temps, then cooler temperatures has left the snow I guess you could say...very Spring like. Good in the morning then getting a bit slushy later. But it has changed so much in the past week or so it is very hard to predict what it may be like this weekend and beyond. There is still heaps of snow a testiment to the amazing snow making system we have here.

The Lodge has been busy right up until tonight so it is quite strange just Laurie and myself being here!! From now on there will be self catering but if you are intending to come up please let me know.

Cheers, Pete

Wild weather

Hi all,

Crazy weather....It is all over the place. Very windy yesterdy and at one point when Laurie was looking at the weather station it jumped from 34km/h to 99km/h. Overnight snow but it must very wind blown. Who knows!!

Not too many weeks left so make some plans for some Spring skiing and riding.

Well as you can imagine it has been really warm here and we have had quite a bit of rain. The conditions change day by day but there is plenty of snow and when the temperatures drops it will be back to normal.

We are full this weekend but if you wish to come up there are beds at Vincent Ski Club. This will probably be the last of the busy weekends but please call early. It is still August and the weather is unusually warm so there is still plenty of the season left.

Nothing new to report except that after more nights of snow showers late last week the conditions seem to get better and better. The weather has been a bit crazy and the past few nights have been around plus 2 and 3 degrees. However snow is great over the entire mountain and the road is in great condition.

We have a school group staying Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights otherwise the weekend is going to be quite quiet. Call before Wednesday night if you intend coming up please.

Conditions continue to amaze. We have had very little snow since the season started, but with cold clear days and cold nights ideal for snow-making we have excellent conditions over all the mountain. School holidays are over so the numbers on the hill should be down quite a bit.

We have school groups staying at the Lodge off and on over the next few weeks but there will always be room for members. As we are catering please let me know your intentions before Wednesday night so food can be ordered and collected.

Club Weekend is coming up. As it is a special weekend, please let me know if you are coming up for the weekend. Last year's Club Weekend was a ripper. Let's make this one a great one too!

Snow conditions are as good as you can get them on all groomed runs and just a little hard off piste. I don't remember the trails in such good condition with awesome grooming on cold dry silky snow.

Catering this weekend. Please call or email by Wednesday night if you are coming up for this weekend. Plenty of room this weekend and a few spare beds early next week. We are full from the middle of next week but there are plenty of beds for Saturday night - the 11th July. If you wished to stay on the mountain on Friday night the 10th there will be room at Vincent Lodge. From Sunday the 12th (second week of school holidays) there is plenty of room and the week will be catered. Please let me know if you would like to come and stay during that period.

If you watch TV3 news over the next few days keep an eye out for our young ski racer member Laurie Taylor. Laurie has been interviewed by the media as part of Winter Festival Week and we hope the cameras zoomed in on his OSC beannie which he wears continually when not racing.
Catering starts this weekend so please let me know if you are coming up by Wednesday night. Catering is included during Ski Weeks!

Ski Week One is pretty full so if you have any intention of coming up let me know. There may be a few beds free at the start of the week. Week Two has plenty of room but please let me know your intentions as early as possible as we cater for that week also.

Have a cozy weekend and book a family room!

After a short warm period at the end of last week, the weather - as you will no doubt be aware - has become quite cold again. It snowed here this morning and it has been good and cold here for the last three days making for great conditions for snow-making.

Great conditions on the slopes I'm told, by all levels of skiers and boarders staying with us at the moment.

A while to go before Friday but the road looks to be okay up to the peak. Give us a call.

Remember we have very nice family rooms now too!
The best conditions for years. Excellent coverage over the whole mountain (Rocky Gully Lift not yet open) and the snow quality is second to none. Plenty of people around on opening day and the weather was beautiful. Snowing this morning and the forecast looking better towards the end of the week.

Plenty of room at the Lodge and we have our new FAMILY ROOMS up and going. We need more kids on the second ski weeks... Get onto your friends and tell them how good the weeks are... Get their kids along for a great week on Coronet Peak and stay in Joel lodge. Plenty of beds. Give me a call.

The 2009 Winter Season starts this Saturday at Coronet Peak and Joel Lodge is open for business.

Although I haven't been up for a ski yet, the conditions look excellent on- and off-piste. There has been snowmaking almost continually for the past few days that I have been here, although they were shut down yesterday afternoon. Everything is up and running at the Lodge and the Family rooms are ready and waiting if you wish to bring young ones up for a taste of the good life. They are also available to those who wish to have more privacy too. Catering will begin on the weekend of 27/28th June. Please let me know if you intend coming up. The keypad code is the same as last season. Looking forward to seeing lots of people on the mountain this season.

IMPORTANT: The club ski/snowboard weeks will be held during the weeks of 5th-11th July and 12th-18th July. The first week is full but we would like more girls for the second week please. If any members know of anyone interested in joining what is a great week of skiing or snowboarding. Please let myself or Arno know as soon as possible (skiweeks@osc.org.nz).

See you on the snow!!!
